1. The ISBE Fellows are the highest academic honor in the field of international bionic science and engineering, awarded as a lifetime honor.
2. The selection of new ISBE Fellows is conducted under the leadership of the ISBE Executive Board, organized and implemented by the IABS. The IABS shall nominate and establish the Fellow Selection Committee, and commence its work upon approval by the ISBE Executive Board.
3. Applicants for the ISBE Fellows should be researchers with a strong academic reputation who have made systematic, pioneering, significant achievements and outstanding contributions in the field of bionic science and engineering.
4. The selection of new ISBE Fellows is conducted triennially, with a maximum quota of six Fellows. The Fellow selection process is conducted in the same year as the International Conference of Bionic Engineering (ICBE).
1. Application Requirements: Applicants for the ISBE Fellows shall submit a formal application and obtain recommendations from two ISBE Fellows. Each ISBE Fellow could recommend no more than three candidates in a single selection cycle.
2. Documentation Requirements: Applicants shall submit two recommendation letters from the ISBE Fellows, along with the ISBE Fellows application documents and supporting materials.
1. Preliminary Evaluation: The Fellows Selection Committee, composed of 7 Fellows, shall be responsible for the preliminary evaluation of all applicants. The committee members represent the major subfields of bionic science and engineering and possess broad disciplinary representation. The Fellows Selection Committee should nominate a maximum of 6 ISBE Fellows candidates.
2. Final Evaluation: The final evaluation shall be conducted via correspondence ballot among ISBE Fellows. The result shall be deemed valid only if it receives affirmative votes from no fewer than two-thirds (2/3) of the participating ISBE Fellows, and the total number of valid ballots exceeds one-half of the total membership of ISBE Fellows. The list of new ISBE Fellows shall be submitted by IABS to the ISBE Executive Board for review and final approval.
1. Hold elected or appointed positions of the ISBE.
2. Nominate candidates for ISBE Fellows.
3. Exercise the right to vote and stand for election.
4. Provide expert advice and oversight the work of the ISBE.
5. Attend the convocation of Fellows and other official meetings of the ISBE.
6. Undertake scientific consultations, peer evaluation, and other assignments entrusted by the ISBE.
7. Promote international exchange and cooperation to advance the frontiers of bionic science and engineering.
1. When the personal conduct of the ISBE Fellows seriously violates scientific ethics, exhibits gross misconduct, severely damages the reputation of the fellow group and the ISBE, or violates the law, the ISBE reserves the right to revoke his/her Fellow title.
2. This regulation shall be interpreted and revised by the IABS.
