About the IABS
The International Academy of Bionic Science (IABS) is committed to establishing a premier international academic center in the field of bionic science and technology.
Article 1 The International Academy of Bionic Science (IABS) is the highest academic institution and think tank of the International Society of Bionic Engineering (ISBE), and is committed to advancing the development of bionics worldwide.
Article 2 The IABS shall promote academic exchange and cooperation among bionics scholars from different countries, advance scientific research in the field of bionics, and enhance education and talent development in bionic science and engineering.
Article 3 The executive office of the IABS shall be the Academy Office, which is affiliated with the Secretariat of the ISBE and is responsible for the Academy’s daily operations.
Article 1 To select ISBE Fellows.
Article 2 To select the International Bionic Science and Technology Award (IBSTA).
Article 3 To host the international summit forum on bionic science and technology and fellowship activities for ISBE Fellows.
Article 4 To organize major international cooperative projects.
Article 5 To provide strategic consultation on major issues in the international field of bionics.
Article 1 General Provisions on the Selection of ISBE Fellows
(1) ISBE Fellows are the highest academic honor in the field of bionic science and engineering and is conferred as a lifetime honor.
(2) The selection of ISBE Fellows shall be conducted under the leadership of the Executive Board of Directors of the ISBE and organized and implemented by the IABS. The IABS shall nominate and establish the Fellows Selection Committee, which shall carry out the selection upon approval by the Executive Board of Directors of ISBE.
(3) Applicants for ISBE Fellows shall be researchers of high academic standing who have made systematic, pioneering, and outstanding contributions and achieved major accomplishments in the field of bionic science and engineering.
(4) The selection of ISBE Fellows shall be initiated once every three years, in the same year as the International Conference of Bionic Engineering, and no more than six Fellows shall be selected each time.
Article 2 Rights and Obligations of ISBE Fellows
(1) ISBE Fellows shall have the right to hold positions elected or appointed by the ISBE.
(2) ISBE Fellows shall have the right to nominate candidates for ISBE Fellows.
(3) ISBE Fellows shall have the right both to vote and to stand for election.
(4) ISBE Fellows shall have the right to make recommendations on the work of ISBE and to perform supervisory duties.
(5) ISBE Fellows shall actively participate in the official meetings of ISBE.
(6) ISBE Fellows shall undertake such responsibilities as scientific and technological consultation, peer review, and other related work entrusted by ISBE.
(7) ISBE Fellows shall actively promote international exchange and cooperation and contribute to the development of bionic science and engineering worldwide.
Article 1 The International Bionic Science and Technology Award (IBSTA) honors researchers who have achieved internationally recognized breakthrough contributions in the fields of bionic science and technology, including fundamental research, technological invention, technology transfer, and engineering application. IBSTA represents the highest international award in field of bionic science and technology.
Article 2 The selection is conducted triennially, with 1 recipient selected each time. The selection criteria are as follows:
(1) Original Scientific Innovations: Achieving bionic accomplishments with original innovations in scientific principles, which have been internationally recognized as groundbreaking scientific breakthroughs.
(2) Practical Technological Inventions: Achievements are successfully applied in fields such as industrial upgrading, environmental protection, healthcare, and other fields, substantially promoting global scientific and technological, economic, and social development.
Article 1 The leadership team of the IABS shall be responsible for major matters including the Academy’s development planning, the selection of ISBE Fellows, and the selection of the IBSTA. The leadership team shall consist of the Emeritus President, the President, the Executive Vice President, Vice Presidents, the Secretaries, and Assistants.
Article 2 The Emeritus President shall be responsible for strategic planning and advisory guidance. The President shall be overall responsibility for all IABS activities and affairs. The Executive Vice President shall be responsible for daily operations and internal coordination. The Vice Presidents shall be responsible for the selection of ISBE Fellows, the IBSTA selection, major international cooperation projects, and high-level international exchange and strategic consultation.
Article 3 The appointment and terms of office of the Emeritus President, the President, the Executive Vice President, and the Vice Presidents shall be as follows:
(1) The Emeritus President, the President, the Executive Vice President, and the Vice Presidents shall be nominated by members of the Executive Board of Directors of the ISBE and elected by the Executive Board of Directors.
(2) The term of office of the President, the Executive Vice President, and the Vice Presidents shall be three years, and no person shall serve more than two consecutive terms. Where an extension of term is required under special circumstances, such extension shall be subject to deliberation and approval by the Executive Board of Directors of the ISBE.
The IABS reserves the final right to interpret and amend this document.
